The people building Tremont AI.
We are a team of researchers, engineers and pathologists. We want preclinical safety to be faster and more certain, so the right medicines reach patients.
Co-Founder & CEO
Luca is the co-founder and CEO of Tremont AI. He completed his PhD in Medical Engineering in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology program, working in the Mahmood Lab on foundation models for computational pathology. He is a co-author of numerous publications in vision-language modeling and agentic systems, several of which were published in high-impact journals like Nature and Nature Medicine.
He studied physics and computer science at McGill University, with research at the McGill University Health Centre and the Mayo Clinic, and founded McMedHacks, an education program on medical image analysis that reached participants in 38 countries.
Head of AI
Valentin leads AI development at Tremont AI, building the preclinical foundation models behind our TRACE and ToxScribe products. He holds a PhD in AI for Health from the Technical University of Munich and Helmholtz Munich, where he worked on deep learning for medical imaging. His work there ranged from multimodal histopathology models and report generation from whole slide images to single-cell foundation models for hematology. He also holds an M.Sc. in Mathematics in Data Science from TUM.
Before Tremont AI, he was Tech Lead AI at Floy in Munich, leading a team that shipped certified medical AI products. His work has appeared in Nature Communications, npj Digital Medicine and at machine learning conferences such as MICCAI.
Head of Operations
Jay is a multi-time founder who has built and run businesses across real estate, investment management and hospitality for more than 15 years. He founded and led an investment firm, and he has been a real estate professional for more than 10 years. Jay started his career in finance at J.P. Morgan and Drake Management, a hedge fund. He studied economics at Binghamton University.
Toxicologic Pathologist
Milind is a toxicologic pathologist on the Tremont AI team. As Toxico-Pathologist and domain expert at AIRA Matrix he helped build and validate AI tools for preclinical pathology. As a Scientist and Study Pathologist at Anthem Biosciences he read and reported regulatory toxicology studies.
He holds a veterinary degree and a Master's in Veterinary Pathology from the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Navsari. At Tremont AI he serves as a domain translation expert bridging the gap between toxicologic pathology and artificial intelligence. He works closely with the research team to define feature criteria and validate the AI output.
Senior ML Engineer
Lorenz builds the systems and trains the models behind Tremont AI. During his PhD at Helmholtz Munich and the Technical University of Munich, in collaboration with the Biozentrum Basel, he worked on deep learning for cryo-electron tomography and created MemBrain, a widely used open-source tool for 3D tomograms, published in Nature Methods.
His methods are also applied in experimental labs, contributing to biological discoveries published in Science and Cell. His work on the interpretability of vision transformers appeared at leading machine learning conferences like NeurIPS. He held a Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds PhD fellowship.
Scientific Co-Founder
Mass General Brigham
Faisal is Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital and the inaugural Director of the Mass General Brigham AI Institute. He is also an Associate Member of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and a member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center.
His lab has shaped how AI is built for pathology and cancer research. It developed the foundation models UNI and CONCH and the pathology copilot PathChat, published in Nature and Nature Medicine, which opened new approaches to cancer diagnosis and biomarker discovery. Its models and open-source tools are used by research groups around the world. He co-founded Modella AI, acquired by AstraZeneca in 2026.
He earned his PhD in biomedical imaging at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology and completed postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University.
Scientific Co-Founder
Mass General Brigham
Long is a molecular and computational pathologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is Vice Chair for Pathology Informatics and Director of Computational Pathology, and Associate Clinical Director of Pathology Systems at Mass General Brigham. He is Assistant Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and teaches molecular diagnostics and bioinformatics in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology program.
He co-founded ArcherDX, a cancer genomic testing company acquired by Invitae in 2020 for up to $1.4 billion, and Modella AI, acquired by AstraZeneca in 2026. His work spans next-generation sequencing diagnostics, laboratory informatics and digital pathology.
He studied chemical engineering and biology at MIT, earned his MD and PhD at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, trained in clinical pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital and completed a fellowship in molecular genetic pathology at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Scientific Co-Founder
University of Lausanne
Guillaume is Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at the University of Lausanne, where he leads the Jaume Lab, developing advanced AI methods for cancer research and pathology, spanning multimodal foundation models, spatial tissue analysis and agentic AI systems. He earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from EPFL, conducting research in collaboration with IBM Research and ETH Zurich, before completing his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital in the Mahmood Lab.
His research has contributed to advances in AI for pathology, with publications in leading scientific journals, including Nature Medicine and Nature Cancer, and premier machine learning conferences, including CVPR and NeurIPS. He has also developed widely adopted open-source resources and tools, including HEST and TRIDENT, that support the development and evaluation of pathology AI models. His research program is supported by a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant.
Scientific Co-Founder
Heidelberg University
Jakob is a physician-scientist and Hopp Foundation Professor of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine at Heidelberg University, where he serves as the founding director of the Institute for Medical AI at Heidelberg University Hospital. Previously, he held the Chair of Clinical Artificial Intelligence at TU Dresden. He is board-certified in internal medicine and holds a master's degree in medical physics.
His research has pioneered the use of deep learning in precision oncology, including the prediction of molecular biomarkers such as microsatellite instability directly from routine histology. His group develops foundation models, multimodal AI systems and autonomous agents for biomedical research and clinical applications, with a focus on translating AI advances into patient care. He is a recipient of an ERC Starting Grant, the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize from the German Research Foundation (2021) and the Felix Burda Award (2025).
